Organisation’s sustainability goals for 2024:
Through various training and exposure programmes, young people are equipped with the values, necessary skills and knowledge on sustainability. Focusing on Youth-led Decarbonisation, a 3-level model was adopted in the Federation to engage youths in sustainable development comprising of “Sustainability Foundation”, “Sustainability in Action”, and “Sustainability Leadership”.
1. Foundation Education:
The Federation places a strong emphasis on raising awareness and enriching the knowledge and skillset of youths in Hong Kong regarding sustainability issues. Through our foundation education initiatives, we aim to equip young people with a solid understanding of the pressing environmental, social, and economic challenges facing our society. This foundational knowledge will empower them to become informed, fostering a deeper appreciation for sustainability, and be inspired to engage citizens who can contribute to building a more sustainable future.
2. Community Action:
Recognizing the crucial role of the community in driving sustainable development, the Federation focuses on deepening the knowledge and skillset needed for active community engagement. Through tailored programs and workshops, participants gain practical skills and hands-on experience in areas such as urban farming, waste management, and renewable energy implementation. Our aim is to cultivate a sense of urgency and ownership among the community, inspiring them to become catalysts for sustainable transformation at the grassroots level.
3. Sustainable Leadership:
The Federation is committed to nurturing the next generation of sustainable leaders in Hong Kong. Through our comprehensive sustainability leadership programs, aspiring young individuals are provided with the foundational and intermediate training necessary to spearhead the sustainable development of the city. The curriculum not only imparts critical knowledge and technical skills but also instills a deep sense of commitment and responsibility in these future leaders. Participants engage in case studies, collaborative projects, and mentorship opportunities that challenge them to develop innovative solutions to complex sustainability challenges. By investing in the development of these sustainability champions, we hope to catalyze a ripple effect of positive transformation across Hong Kong.
